Yesterday, several riders and family members from Kids Horsin’ Around, went to Fallbrook Riders Field for an evening ride and picnic dinner.  Jessika and Donnie rode in Challenge and May from Morro Street in Fallbrook.  I trailered in Max, Tango, Flash and Star. There was a horse for every rider!  Erin loved the large arena [...]

Doggone Horse!!!

I usually don’t let beginner riders on Max…(especially without a helmet)…But Lilly is an exception!   (She later rode bareback!) Actually, this dog is not a beginner.  Lilly, Jessika’s dog, has been out trail riding, so backyard riding at Kids Horsin’ Around was nothin’ for this “dog on horse”!

Just got back from the gym. I work out to become a better rider, and to be able to ride longer (into my years)…I started late, but want to be able to ride into my 90′s!! So, I have to stay in shape to accomplish that goal, just as I keep my horses in shape [...]

Smart mom, eh? Who wants to end up sore and unable to walk up stairs during vacation time? Which, at the [...]

San Diego Winter Doldrums

It’s been raining here in Fallbrook, off & on, the last two weeks.  Not bad, but enough to often mess with our training schedule.  Missed trail ride last Wednesday due to rain, and footing in arena has been sketchy at times. Got photos back from the Equine Dentist, Dr. Lori Critchfield, Southland Equine Dentistry.  She [...]

Max’s Day Off

Max was caught pinching alfalfa from the hay truck on his day off….. Called Mary Anna Wood today to tell her how much she has inspired me.  Mary Anna is a friend and fellow colleage from CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) and…she and her horse, Elmer Bandit, hold the world’s record for the most competitive trail [...]
